Bethel New Life CDC
Lake & Pulaski Transit stop

Bethel New Life CDC is working with CNT to plan and implement a two story Commercial Center at a transit stop on the Lake Street line. The project is part of a larger effort to envision a sustainable future for for the community just west of Garfield Park

Bethel New Life CDC completed its first housing rehabilitation project in 1979 with an investment fund of $9,600.

Since then they have built or or rehabilited over 1,000 houses and apartments, placing 4,000 people in full-time jobs, and building a health center and a recycling center.

The Commercial Center

The ground floor has retail space and a recycling center. There is an elevator leading directly to the CTA Train Station platform. There is professional office space and a child care center on the second floor (with an entry to the train platform for working parents who want to drop off their kids on the way to work). The building has numerous innovative energy efficiency features.
